SDSU-The largest donation ever!

‘Marriott is synonymous with high ethical standards and premier leadership,’ said Carl Winston, director of the School of HTM. ‘It’s also recognized for commitment to workplace diversity, mentorship of individuals and creating opportunities for those interested in joining the hospitality industry. These are values we share and the values we strive to develop in our students.’

The Student Center for Professional Development helps HTM students to find internships required to earn their degree and assists students in finding part-time, summer positions and full-time employment after graduation. More than 100 HTM students have completed internships with Marriott, and there’s a strong correlation between internship and job placement, said Brian Blake, director of the Student Center for Professional Development. The HTM program boasts a 99 percent placement rate.

SDSU graduates who now work for Marriott have impressed Steve Bauman, vice president, North America talent acquisition for Marriott International.

‘They’re bright, energetic and knowledgeable,’ Bauman said. ‘They come to Marriott with a great understanding of and passion for the industry, which is clearly the result of solid preparation.’

With the center’s funding now guaranteed in perpetuity, future HTM students can turn to its resources for networking assistance.

Students are not the only group to benefit from the center’s activities. The school’s community partners, and the industry in general, profit from this pipeline of potential employees, Blake said.

Want to be the best?

Every body has always a dream to be the best. Creme de la creme! The question is how to achieve your goal. Some people think that in order to be the best , you need a great effort. You need an extra energy. But in fact, it is not necessary so. It just a wrong perception.
If you want to be the best in school, in carrier, in your job, you just need a plan. You need a map. And you have to carve your road to success. Do not make an ambitious plan. Try to make a simple plan. And then, you can develop your plan that suit to your need from time to time. You should have a time frame or schedule of your achievement. Suppose now, you are in semester two 2009. You should put your target on 2009. For example, my target in semester two is to get 3.9 GPA. My goal is to be included in best three student in Tourism Program. Do not forget to review your plan and or your target accordingly.
When you have already set up your target, then you should put it in detail plan. Say, for this semester you take 6 courses with total 24 credits. It takes 5 month study time. You should calculate how much time available to you. If one day is 24 hours, so you have 3600 hours ( 5 mo X 30 days x 24 hours). You should subtract with sleeping time, 8 hours a day so total time for sleeping is 1200 hour. For attending the lecture in a class room, suppose you have two courses a day about three hours, so total time for attending the class (from monday to Friday) is 300 hours (5 mox 20 daysx 3 hours).
You should include the time you spent for transportation from home to university vice versa. Suppose you need 4 hours a day because Jakarta is always experience a traffic jam. So you need about 4oo hours (5 mo x 20 days x 4 hours). After you counted all of time you need for sleep, attending the class, commuter time, the rest is about 1700 hours. But you have to provide you spare time with your family in the weekend. You can spent 240 hours on the weekend (5 mo x 8 days x 6 hours). Then you have only left 1460 hours for study. If you divide by 6 courses, you will have approximately 240 hours study for each subject. I think it’s fair enough.
How you will distributed the time available for each subject. Well you can divide, one third for reading, one third for discussion and the rest for making paper, quizz or exam. So 60 hour for reading for each subject, 60 hour for discussion and 60 hour to test your absorption.
When you should spent your time for reading?. I think before enter the class, you should read the material carefully in order to develop interactive communication between student and the lecturer/instructor. Spent 30 to 45 minutes to read the material , try to understand the basic/fundamental of the subject.
If you can practice it daily and make it become your habit every day, I guarantee you will be in group of the best three this semester. Otherwise you will become the last ten in the bottom this semester.
Good luck guys, I hope you enjoy your study for this semester.
Somebody from anywhere.

Forkom D3 Program Vokasi Pariwisata UI punya 3 WEB?.
